No wonder people don't think very highly of 5G. People are told it's supposed to be faster, they take down the old support for 2/3/4g and they rename the remaining ones to 5Ge and you'll have like 2 bars of 5g and your internet will still be glacially slow, even worse than if they had left it alone.
To the average consumer there was negative benefit to 5g especially if you're not in the city.

@Jessica@kitsunes.club I remember when 5G was first introduced it had amazing speeds because nobody else was really on the network. I managed to get gigabit speeds pretty consistently and now... since everyone is on 5G... it's not great. Sometimes I get 5G+ and even that feels slow as shit. I'm starting to become convinced that it's less about the underlying technology and more about utilization of channels. It'll be blazing fast if you have a couple of wireless customers but when you stack thousands on one tower it starts to bog down and become subpar just like 4G & LTE.

My comment maybe was too specific to Switzerland. We only have 3(4) companies with a license to operate 5G, and they also own much of the cables.
There are a lot of small independent cable networks still alive. (From teh good ol times of analog tv and such)
