@Blender I think I appreciate that. It would be nice to have some clarity. Can you point at the elephant in the room. Perhaps even at what's occurred in Iran, given Claude might have been involved there.
I do want you to get money to support blender. But this does not make me excited. Though I appreciate you've announced it openly.

@thibaultmol @UkeleleEric @eden @Blender So, legally speaking (EU tax laws vary, but seem to converge on this), *donations* cannot be based on reciprocity. A public statement thanking the donor is about as far as it can go, or the recipient is in hot water tax wise.
*Sponsorship* is not tax exempt, and can therefore include all the reciprocity the two parties can think of.
So whereas e.g. FOSDEM treats things one way, it does not follow that any other sponsorship has to follow the same rules.

@Blender Anthropic is a defense contractor and works with the US Government and Palantir to do some absolutely horrific shit. Claude Code was recently used to bomb a little girl's school.
That's just the tip of the ice berg. Anthropic is a really horrible company with no ethics:

could none of you see that accepting something like this would cause immense backlash from people who are very negatively affected by these huge AI companies?? I think probably everyone here demands that you reconsider your decision unless you wanna destroy your reputation.
