      Luggage lockers are underrated and we should have them in the UK. Plentiful and happily exactly the right size for my suitcase.

      I guess if your case is considered oversized by Shinkansen standards then you're out of luck.

      Tied to the indefatigable IC too, so no receipt to misplace...

      (I know why we don't, Japan seems to manage...)

      @hugh We stopped having them after IRA bombing campaigns. Ditto rubbish bins some of which have come back.

                  I know what we're missing: more telephones.

                  Some of these are imposters; they're not actually branded as NTT.

                      And in the same spirit as @janamarie, today I visited the International Conference Centre in Kyoto to appreciate the fascinating "metabolistic" architecture.

                      The home of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, but its cuboid cousin in Tokyo is more famous: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyoto_International_Conference_Center

                      It's set in a lovely and extensive park, which was fun to explore.

                        @taavi Only starting? 😛

                        Honestly I'm just taking photos of them for the laughs now. I know absolutely nothing about telephones in Japan, other than they're green.

                        It helps they are Øl Tele corporate colours. We should licence them from NTT.

                                  @hugh @aetios UK used Flying Banana for the GWR railcars so well before. Dr Yellow though comes long before Flying Banana was reused in the UK for the HST because of its initial colour scheme
