Any recommendations for a psychiatrist in #Berlin who can perform a reliable #ADHD assessment? Ideally, someone who accepts public insurance (I’m with TK).
I’ve contacted more than ten doctors so far, but almost all of them only take private insurance. I even went to a self-help group in Neukölln and, out of 26 people, only one could name a doctor - and they also only accept private insurance.
The prices I’ve seen range from €450 to €1500, which feels absurd considering how much we already pay into public health insurance.
Yesterday, after talking to a psychologist at dinner for the second time, she told me she had asked whether I had ADHD. I didn’t even remember the question, and my answer was basically: "I don’t know, I’ve never really read about it."
Now I’m reading about something I had no idea might apply to me until my partner suggested it after reading a text. And suddenly… a lot of things are starting to make sense.
I’m currently reading “Driven to Distraction - Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder” by Edward Hallowell and John Ratey.
