    So: #Mozilla's got the next CEO with a corporate background determined to make yet another futile attempt to beat big tech at their own game, when in fact the obvious way to secure relevance and a good market share for #Firefox is, to combine privacy and security with good usability on all platforms.

    Is there a single person on Earth, who would choose Firefox over Chrome or Safari for its "AI" features?

    FOSS development is best run by nerds, not by corporate goons.

      @mina I know lots of nerds who are big fans of AI. We shouldn't always assume that others are like us. And for me, it's still okay as long as it's not on by default and I can easily turn it off.

        @holger

        My point is not "ai" per se, my point is the focus on trying to keep up with the current hype in order to "stay on top of business" instead of focussing on core strengths and uniqueness.

          @mina All this stuff is more or less a waste product of their development. I can understand that they want to incorporate one thing or another and make sure that it mostly runs locally and doesn't share data as intensively as many others do. I find some of the functionalities interesting in principle, but I don't know if I necessarily need them in my browser. However, I use tools every day that help me get things done faster than before. Especially repetitive tasks. So I'm last to whine 🙂

            @holger@hellinger.wtf @mina@berlin.social

            They could make AI an Addon and not the horrible Anti-Consent Opt-Out they are doing now.

            Just uninstalled it and installed Waterfox.

              @mina@berlin.social @holger@hellinger.wtf Bonus: Just learned that Mozilla nuked their Fedi Server and does SoMe exclusively on US Corpo Platforms now.

              That was last Year - i somehow missed that.
