I have often come across the quote below. Before reposting it, I wanted to verify it. And I found out it's from a 2005 Salon interview https://www.salon.com/2005/04/24/satrapi_2/ -- during the time I worked at Salon! A neat coincidence for me.

@brainwane That's really creepy and it's the truth. This post smacked me in the face with it.
One can't look at the rampant racism and violence in our history since Native "Americans" owned this land without knowing it's avarice, lack of any form of compassion or empathy and think we're great or okay as we existed for almost 250 years. The "founding fathers" had tunnels in many places including Philadelphia to hide their slaves. They knew it was wrong and pretended how great they were.

Nailed it.
I don't want to be judged as a human based on my government. I don't judge other people based on theirs.

@brainwane exactly. I'm all about

️..and always thought it was so gross that the citizens of country are forced to go and fight eachother because of the anger and hatred the two leaders of those countries feel for eachother...no one forces their friends or even their neighbors to go and fight some stranger for some reason they don't know..I wish the humans who ran the countries had that same intelligence. -

@benroyce @brainwane that's sad and unexpected news, indeed
May she #RIP.
she was young, 56
her family said she died of a broken heart, her husband passed away a year ago
'The acclaimed author “died of sadness,” her family told the Agence France-Presse news agency.
The statement said the author had “died of sadness a little over a year after the death of Mattias Ripa, her husband and the love of her life,” the AFP reported. Further details of her death were not immediately available.'
