Ah crap, saw the Palantir manifesto

@oldclumsy_nowmad The post directly below that one
I also had a hard time figuring it out. It's at the bottom of the elia ayoub one in the url that begins with twitter-thread.
Before I found it, my guess was they made the first 20 points sound as innocuous and sweetly optimistic as they could before delivering points 21 and 22. They tried to do that, but….there are -a bunch- of whacked out points in that thing. Wow. They are just insane.

@_L1vY_ @leahmcelrath some cultures gave us jazz, others gave us the Holocaust.
@craignicol @L1vY@mstdn.social @leahmcelrath And those same cultures that gave us the Holocaust also stole the jazz.

I can't get past this one, freedom through authoritarianism:
4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software. -

They're saying they want (even more) no-accountability for the rich and powerful, and they hate it when their heinous crimes and misdeeds are made public despite their wealth and power.
So we know that part's working; keep it up!

@_L1vY_ I don't know why it still surprises me when an expert in one field is a complete bumbling idiot when they encounter any other topic, but here we are again: computer nerds trying to do policy and ethics and failing in a hundred ways people like me, who studied politics and morality, already discarded centuries ago.

@L1vY@mstdn.social @leahmcelrath Yeah, follows their whole thing would be continuing the fairly fascistic recruitment ad we saw on a college's property into "25-point program" territory.

@_L1vY_ yeah that was my take too, those points didn't scare me so much as they made me say
ha! Those greedy entitled jerks are nervous as hell.
The points that truly disgusted me were the "yes- we will build better rifles to kill!!!! That is good!!!" Talk about brainwashed people. Wow.

@Kierkegaanks I can almost hear the freaky soundtrack for "Annihilation" while reading any of these.
