It's so stupid. I love it so much
Nothing makes sense but it's literally the coolest shit you've ever seen

In 2065, we're gonna have incredible things, such as:
- public telephone booths with video conference support
- nuclear-powered planes that can go six times the speed of sound but the reactor shielding only lasts three hours
- space billionaires with their own tropical islands who use all their resources for good

the timeline of this first episode really only makes sense if you account for that fact that travel from one end of the world to the other only takes a few minutes

This is a fiction trope I really don't like: Stating up ahead of time how much time you have to save the world. Star Wars ep. 9 did this and that was bad. For me, it always just draws my attention to the question of how long all this is really taking. And that makes me pay less attention to the plot and more to the plot holes

So btw the premise of the first episode is that someone has placed a bomb on the nuclear supersonic plane Fireflash. The bomb is set up in such a way that it will detonate as soon as the landing gear touches the ground

Some Guy gets winched into the landing gear compartment from another plane and honestly this scene is so tense, it might very well be the climax of the episode
But then his hand slips and he falls off like an absolute chump within a split second. What a loser

But I guess if there are themes to this show, then one major theme is that Technology Is Cooler Than People

but also? You gotta make sure that technology doesn't fall into the wrong hands, because then people would just use it for... killing people? making profit? It's not entirely clear yet

The best way to contact British people is to hide a secret radio in their kettle. Because as we all know, British people are always drinking tea

the explosions in this are so good. Nothing even comes close. I legitimately think this series spoiled me for explosions forever

Oh no. The second episode is about the Sidewinder, a giant mecha the shape of a cockroach. It's used by the US Army and the dialog implies they want to use it for colonialism

The intro already showed a lot of African wildlife running away in panic and the robot limbs of the thing tearing trees out of the ground. As if writing "US Army" on the side wasn't enough to make me hate it

They said it weighs upward of 500 tons. That's five Dire Wolves all stacked on top of each other and held up by four tiny spindly legs! No surprise it fell into the damn hole
